Most of the internet "thieves" have software to conduct an official and prohibited access to public data records. By getting an access to the public data records, the criminal can get information about the victim. Normally, criminals access the date of birth, surname, maiden name, address, security number and many more.

Aside from the public data base, most of the thieves use the web linkages. The criminals just type in some sort of Social Security Numbers. The net will connect them into several search engines. According to investigations done, there are almost 95 identity sites pop ups. Basically the criminal simply click on a certain person's file. After that, the criminal can view all of the possible identification.

Another common method would be creating fake websites. What these criminals do is that they take a known website or just create a new one. When people subscribe or try to buy something a program will acquire their information and the hacker will use it in its own benefit.

Also, people should know that any public machine is not safe because many people have access on it. Making your transactions on public computer is not a very safe thing to do because the computer will have a track cookie and strangers can access those cookies and steal your information.

Another way to gather information about a certain thing is encryption software; many hackers use encryption software because it helps them figure out the victim's number.

People should also know that when sending a card pin number over an internet online store, things aren't completely safe. It is safe to send a card pin number only when your browser shows in the lower corner a padlock icon.

Most of the internet identity theft criminals wants to maneuver someone's personal account. Most of them have the intention to start spending money and take the identity with some new purchasing options.

Sometimes, the credit card used by a certain thief cannot sustain what they are buying so they are left in the situation to find another victim with a credit card that will ensure their transactions.

Internet fraud has become a common thing and most hackers usually get better at it. This makes it hard for people to protect themselves. Criminals have developed their skills and can gain access on a lot of data almost anywhere in the world.

If people want to protect themselves they will have to use a computer carefully when making transactions. Also, if they use a high speed broadband things become safer because it makes the computer flexible against all attacks.
