Have you ever wondered what makes some marriages thrive and other marriages fall apart. When you get married, you are thinking forever. No one gets married thinking of divorce, but divorce happens everyday. What makes the difference in a successful marriage and one that ends in divorce? Why does love die and what can you do to make sure your marriage is a happy one?
No matter how much n love your are in the beginning, those euphoric feelings of new love cannot and will not last forever. This is reality, but that does not mean that because you are married that life has to be boring and stale. My parents have been married for fifty four years and you can feel the love they still have for each other.
There are many couples that have been married for years that will tell you they are as much in love now as they were on their wedding day. They will also tell you that there is no secret but that they have really worked at keeping their marriage happy and successful.
Many people have the mistaken idea that all that is necessary for a successful marriage is to show up on your wedding day and say I do. This couldn t be further from the truth. You will need to invest both your time and energy into your relationship in order to have a happy, successful marriage.
Being friends with your spouse is one key to a happy marriage. Do you enjoy spending time with your spouse. You should, you enjoy your time with your other friends, right? Most happily married couples will tell you that in addition to a strong love for their spouse that they also have a great friendship with them. They truly enjoy spending time together.
Keeping romance alive is another key to insuring that your marriage will be happy and successful. Being romantic is simply expressing your emotions with actions. When it comes to romance what you do is not the most important thing. Simply doing something that shows your spouse you care is what is important.
Leave a little love note, spend a whole day together doing something your spouse wants to do(next time you can spend the day doing what you want to do), surprise your spouse with something they have been wanting or maybe you can buy some fantastic massage oil and offer your spouse a massage. Little things mean a lot and once you begin to try a little romance, it becomes easier to come up with romantic ideas and it becomes more fun for you and your spouse.
Feelings do change and love does evolve, but your marriage is just like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it. Are you putting as much time and energy into your marriage as you do with other important areas of your life? The fact is all relationships begin with giddy, excitement, but with work an ongoing friendship and a little romance, your marriage can be happy, successful and better than you ever thought possible.
